They were conducted by AHC staff, AHC volunteers, or community partners including the Atlanta Vietnam Veterans Business Association, the Marietta Golden K Kiwanis Club, and the Atlanta Branch of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. The bulk of the interviews were conducted at AHC; some were conducted in veterans' homes or at partner events.

This collection contains landscape drawings, plant lists, concept and site plans, and surveys that provide details of work done by Richard Anderson Landscape Architect Inc., as well as earlier work with Daugherty/Anderson and Associates. The work of a few other architects is included such as Edward L. Daugherty and E. S. Draper. The majority of projects are of residential landscapes.

The architects involved on these construction projects include G. Lloyd Preacher, Ivey & Crook, and Neel Reid. Photographers include Edgar Orr, Rogers & Farmer, Fishbaugh & Lee, Francis E. Price, and Reeves Studio.
